By decision of the government, a higher educational institution - Georgian Academy of Diplomacy will be established.
As the head of the government Irakli Kobakhidze stated at the government session, today the relevant faculties of state and private universities are unable to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for future diplomats.
According to him, starting next year, the Academy of Diplomacy, after passing authorization, will successfully begin to function.
The Academy of Diplomacy will be an educational institution of departmental subordination.
“The Georgian Academy of Diplomacy will train highly qualified personnel for the diplomatic service. Departmental subordination will help the Academy ensure high quality of education and research. Several higher education institutions are successfully operating with such departmental subordination. For example, the Georgian Defense Academy, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the Security Academy have been established.
Given this successful practice, we believe that the Georgian Academy of Diplomacy will successfully fulfill a very important function with its departmental subordination.
Our task is to train highly qualified personnel for our diplomatic service, which is important for the further strengthening of our country's foreign policy positions,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
Kobakhidze thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili and the Ministry at the government session.
