It was a kind of burden that although there were violent acts by law enforcement agencies, no one was arrested - the main thing is that justice has been served, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, responding to the detention of 5 police officers for violence against politician Levan Khabeishvili, journalist Guram Rogava and protester Zviad Maisashvili.
According to Kobakhidze, the state acts with high responsibility and it is important to respond to any violation of the law.
“In total, about 30 perpetrators were arrested, I mean the participants of the violent rally, the perpetrators. During this time there was a kind of burden, that although there were violent acts by law enforcement agencies, no one was arrested. A statement was made in this regard a couple of weeks ago, we looked deeper into everything and finally, we managed to identify the culprit and we acted with our high responsibility, we have our signature and we must protect this signature to the end, for this it is important to respond to any violation of the law, the state showed this with the act that the society saw,” Kobakhidze said.
As for the facts of violence against other injured people during the protests, including journalist Maka Chikhladze and her cameraman, Kobakhidze says that “criminal cases have been initiated in various directions and the main thing is to identify the perpetrators.”
In addition, he thanked law enforcement agencies for "preventing four attempts to violently change the government."
