By government decree, additional 80 million GEL to be allocated for partial rehabilitation of general education institutions

An additional 80 million GEL will be allocated from the Fund for Projects to be Implemented in the Regions of Georgia for the partial rehabilitation of general educational institutions.

The relevant government decree has been signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the same document, the Ministry of Finance was instructed to increase the Fund for Projects to be Implemented in the Regions of Georgia by 80,000,000 GEL, and in return, reduce the allocations for the “Construction and Rehabilitation of Public Schools” sub-program.

“1. It is hereby acknowledged that the Ministry of Regional Development of Georgia has raised the issue of allocating an additional 80,000,000 (eighty million) GEL to municipalities in order to ensure the partial rehabilitation of general education institutions. 2. In order to implement the measures specified in paragraph 1 of this Decree, the Ministry of Finance of Georgia shall be instructed to: a) increase the fund for projects to be implemented in the regions of Georgia, as provided for in the Law of Georgia “On the State Budget of Georgia for 2026”, by 80,000,000 (eighty million) GEL, at the expense of reducing the allocations for the “Construction and Rehabilitation of Public Schools” sub-program of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia;

  1. b) Allocation of 80,000,000 (eighty million) GEL from the Fund for Projects to be Implemented in the regions of Georgia, provided for by the Law of Georgia “On the State Budget of Georgia for 2026”, to the Ministry of Regional Development of Georgia, for the purpose of ensuring the partial rehabilitation of general education institutions by municipalities”, reads the document.
