Mikheil Sarjveladze on children with Duchenne - it is not easy to make decisions, since we are talking about 4 types of medications - the moment the issue is ready, decisions will be made without any delay

It is not easy to make decisions on these issues, since we are talking about 4 types of medications, around which the status, condition, mood, potential, even readiness to make decisions, are at an absolutely, qualitatively different stage, - the Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze, said after a meeting with parents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

According to him, today's meeting was quite productive.

“This meeting was clearly useful, considering that we have been talking about this since the very first days of the protest. It is always important to talk to the people who should ultimately be served by any new decision that may be prepared.

As for the decision itself - in this direction, it is natural that it will require work and it is natural that this work has no alternative. This is exactly what we have been talking about from the very first day, and this is also critically important. The issues, the vision of which we heard from the parents, are of particular interest, and for us this is a circumstance that must be paid attention to. It is not easy to make decisions on these issues, since we are talking about 4 types of medications, around which the status, condition, mood, potential, even the readiness to make decisions are at an absolutely, qualitatively different stage.

I have already mentioned that there are fewer questions regarding two of the named medications, more and more with the others. etc. Of course, all this necessarily requires a very detailed analysis, correct judgment of what should be paid attention to and proper decisions. In this regard, this meeting was quite fruitful and important.

There was also a discussion on an issue such as, for example, the misuse of this by politicians, etc.

We are unequivocally disposed to find solutions as quickly and as effectively as possible, which will be truly beneficial for each patient. We will probably have another such meeting on these issues in the near future, the discussion will continue, and as it was mentioned at the beginning, at what moment the decision is ready to be made, of course, without any delay, such decisions will be made. But for this it is necessary that the decision is ready to be made,” Sarjveladze said.

For information, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with the parents of children suffering from Duchenne. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze.
