Shalva Papuashvili - The 2022 Istanbul Agreement was thwarted by the British Prime Minister, who told Kyiv: No agreement, let's go to war! After that, Ukraine has been at war for four years, while Boris Johnson walks around calmly and holds conferences

The US administration confirms that the [Russia-Ukraine] war could have been avoided. The European Union could not do it, NATO could not do it, the Western world at that time could not do it. This war could have been ended at the beginning, and the Ukrainian government confirms this. Any initiative to end the war is important, - the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists.

According to Shalva Papuashvili, Western countries, unfortunately, showed an irresponsible attitude towards the fate of another country even before the war.

"I remind you that two months after the start of this war, in April 2022, a peace agreement was initialed in Istanbul by the heads of the Ukrainian and Russian delegations. The Ukrainian delegation was led by David Arakhamia and his statement was that there were acceptable conditions for Ukraine, they returned to Kyiv, the British Prime Minister arrived in Kyiv, disrupted this agreement and told the Ukrainian authorities that there was no agreement, let's go to war! After that, Ukraine has been at war for four years now, and the former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is now walking around calmly, holding conferences and participating in seminars. This is an irresponsible attitude towards the fate of another country, which, unfortunately, was shown even before the war by Western countries, those who have responsibility for global security, including the European Union, NATO. They were unable to stop this conflict, this war could have been avoided. The US administration confirms today that this war could have been avoided, the European Union could not do it, NATO could not do it, the Western world at that time could not do it. This war could have been ended right at the beginning, and the Ukrainian government confirms this. As David Arakhamia says, Boris Johnson is the person through whose mouth the message was conveyed to Kyiv that this war should not end in 2022. Today, you see that it is still going on. Four years have passed and hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians have died during this war, and unfortunately, there is no end in sight to this war. So, any initiative to end the war is important. It is important to have more or less acceptable conditions for everyone, but the Ukrainian government itself also states, including David Arakhamia, that the conditions that are being discussed now are worse than the draft Istanbul Agreement of April 2022, which was then thwarted by Boris Johnson's visit to Kyiv," Papuashvili said.
