Irakli Kobakhidze: Today, when global politics is experiencing a shortage of leaders, Serbia has an outstanding leader – Our countries and governments clearly understand the fundamental importance of protecting sovereignty

“Today, when modern global politics is experiencing a shortage of leaders, Serbia has an outstanding leader who firmly works to protect and strengthen his country’s sovereignty and independence and does everything possible for the well-being of the Serbian people. We had the opportunity to discuss in detail the key issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a briefing together with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

As the Prime Minister noted, it is significant that this is the first presidential visit from the Serbian side to Georgia.

“Today, when modern global politics is experiencing a shortage of leaders, Serbia has an outstanding leader who firmly works to protect and strengthen his country’s sovereignty and independence and does everything possible for the well-being of the Serbian people. It is a great honor for us to host Aleksandar Vučić. It is noteworthy that this is the first presidential visit from the Serbian side to our country, which can be assessed as a milestone event for our bilateral relations. I am confident that this visit will give new impetus to Georgian–Serbian relations and further deepen cooperation in all directions.

Relations between Georgia and Serbia are based on a long tradition of friendship, mutual respect, and people-to-people ties. In addition, our countries are connected by centuries-old Christian heritage and shared values.

Our countries and governments fully understand the fundamental importance of protecting sovereignty. I would like to express gratitude to the President for his firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

I am pleased that we had the opportunity to discuss in detail the key issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda and to consider prospects for further deepening our ties. We paid special attention to the importance of political dialogue,” the Prime Minister said.
