“Immediately after arriving in Georgia, at Mikheil Saakashvili’s request, I went directly from the airport to Adjara. I will meet with representatives from all regions and convey their wishes and visions to Mikheil Saakashvili. After that, it will be decided whether Saakashvili’s candidate is Nanuka or someone else,” journalist Nanuka Zhorzholiani wrote on social media.
According to Zhorzholiani, many within the party consider Levan Khabeishvili to have been its most effective chairperson.
“It does not matter what the ‘bubble’ thinks. It especially does not matter what those people think who fight against the ‘Five’ and Mikheil Saakashvili more than they fight against 41 and Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Believe it or not, even Mikheil’s wishes are not the most important factor. Spending five years in prison, when information and public sentiment reach you selectively, can distort your perception.
If we truly want villages and regions to be the priority, then local party organizations should be the ones to say whom they see as their leader—whether that position is called manager, chairperson, or something else.
It is interesting to hear whom these people see as a candidate.
As soon as I landed, at Mikheil’s request, I went straight from the airport to Adjara and met with regional party representatives. I will meet representatives from every region and convey their wishes and visions to Mikheil.
Only after that will it be decided whether Mikheil’s candidate is Nanuka or someone else.
That is why it is still far too early to talk about who will become the chairperson of the United National Movement.
P.S. We were part of the same ‘bubble’ that criticized "Khabe", but from what I see now, many in the party consider him to have been the best chairperson,” Zhorzholiani wrote.
