\Elene Khoshtaria is not receiving appropriate medical care – Before arrest, Elene's health condition was stable and it was after her transfer to a prison that her condition worsened, which is why the penitentiary service is fully responsible, - this statement was made by female politicians near Rustavi Women's Penitentiary No. 5, expressing their support for Elene Khoshtaria, the leader of Droa.
In a joint statement, female politicians noted that Elene Khoshtaria is not receiving urgently needed medical procedures to manage her chronic illnesses while in prison.
“Today, female politicians and public representatives once again join us in responding to the deteriorating health condition of our comrade-in-arms, mother of four, Elene Khoshtaria, who has been illegally imprisoned. Elene has been in political detention for ten months and, at the same time, is not receiving appropriate medical care.
The imprisonment of Elene Khoshtaria for 1 year and 6 months for peaceful protest and expression of opinion goes beyond any legal framework. In addition, during her stay in the penitentiary institution, she is not undergoing the urgently needed procedures and special medical protocols for the management of her chronic diseases, which is causing irreversible damage to her health. It is worth noting that before arrest, Elene’s health condition was stable and it was after her transfer to the penitentiary institution that her condition worsened, which places full responsibility on the penitentiary service.
The penitentiary system’s attitude is a clear expression of political persecution and violates the principles of the rule of law and human rights. Freedom to Elene Khoshtaria! Freedom to prisoners of conscience! ", - reads the statement.
