I experienced on myself exactly what Elene is experiencing now. Again, the dictator's lies and the filth of propaganda, this is a group of sadists who take great pleasure in torturing other people and if we don't end it, they will commit great horrors, - the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, writes on his Facebook page.
Saakashvili talks about the conditions he was in after his arrest.
"The Dream representatives have been spreading my name in connection with Elene, saying “Saakashvili was pretending." I would like to remind you of what was happening around me from the very first days of my imprisonment. After my arrest, I declared a hunger strike, which lasted 50 days. On the 44th day of the hunger strike, I was taken by deception (they told me that I was being transferred to a civilian multidisciplinary clinic) to the "medical block" of the Gldani prison, which was hastily arranged for me, where they led me through a row of criminals, threw me on the asphalt, beat me and made me lose consciousness. I would have died there if the Strasbourg court had not intervened and, in parallel, numerous protest rallies had not been held. It was at this time that Elene Khoshtaria declared a hunger strike demanding that I be transferred to the hospital, and her health suffered greatly. Finally, after I lost consciousness in Gldani, I was taken to the Gori Military Hospital. From there, just before the New Year, without the attending physician, Nino Gogorishvili, having signed the "Form 100", which my lawyer N. Gvaramia confirmed in writing, they took me to Rustavi Prison in a serious condition. In Rustavi, two months later, my condition stabilized and I was able to appear at several "court" sessions. In the meantime, the war in Ukraine began and, apparently, Ivanishvili considered that I could be easily removed under the cover of the noise of this war, after which the evening duty of the doctors in Rustavi Prison was stopped and a few days later, in the evening, I felt very unwell. My fever rose to 41, I started vomiting, convulsions, terrible pain. The nurses who had been brought from somewhere were in a complete panic, this condition lasted for several days. Then I started losing weight sharply. In total, I lost almost 40% of my weight, I could no longer walk, and I began to have catastrophic memory lapses. Although after some time, they were forced to transfer me to Vivamedi, both in prison and in Vivamedi they categorically refused to take a test for heavy metals. However, it was my friend and very cool doctor, Nika Kipshidze, who initially suspected heavy metal poisoning. The management of Vivamedi constantly lied about my condition, minimized the dangers, and provided symptomatic treatment with constant plasma transfusions and painkillers. Finally, under international pressure, they allowed American and European doctors to come in, who unmistakably confirmed the fact of my poisoning. It took me more than 1.5 years to recover from my critical condition, although the poisoning left me with chronic neuropathy, memory problems, and joint inflammation. In short, I experienced exactly what Elene is experiencing now. Again, the dictator’s lies and the filth of propaganda, this is a group of sadists who take great pleasure in torturing other people, and if we don’t put an end to them, they will commit great horrors,” Saakashvili wrote on social media.
For information, lawyer Shota Tutberidze stated at the press conference that the health condition of one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, Elene Khoshtaria, has worsened. As he noted, Elene Khoshtaria has severe joint pain, difficulty moving, which is why she is sometimes unable to write, and she needs crutches to move.
Later, the Special Penitentiary Service issued a statement, noting that "Elene Khoshtaria is provided with all appropriate conditions and has unhindered access to all services, including medical services."
