The German Ambassador left in a French way, without saying goodbye. I hope his departure will become the basis for correcting relations between Georgia and Germany and a new beginning, - stated Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili to journalists.

According to him, Peter Fischer managed to destroy 30 years of partnership in just three years.

“It is probably symbolic that the German Ambassador left in a French way, without saying goodbye. He did not bid farewell to the President, the Prime Minister, or the Parliament, thereby once again showing that this person does not respect our statehood. This was the main problem that accompanied his ambassadorship. With this step as well, he once again demonstrated his complete disrespect for the Georgian state, the Georgian people, our history, and our sovereignty.

As for his tenure as ambassador, it is unfortunate - and I have said this more than once - that this man managed to destroy 30 years of partnership in three years. I hope that his departure will serve as the foundation for correcting relations between Georgia and Germany and for a new beginning. We have said many times how much gratitude the Georgian people feel toward the German state, which has stood by Georgia from the very first days of our independence. We remember the special relationship between Eduard Shevardnadze and Hans-Dietrich Genscher, which led to the rapid establishment of political relations between the two countries.

Unfortunately, this legacy that Germany had from the time of Genscher was destroyed by Mr. Peter in three years by showing every kind of negative attitude toward the Georgian state and the Georgian government,” Papuashvili stated.
