The case was initiated precisely in connection with this approach, which is a traitorous approach, which is, in the broad sense, a criminal approach. We will see what qualification the investigative agencies give to this, but the betrayal of one’s own country is exactly this: “protest inside, sanctions outside,” - this is how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze assesses the statement of one of the leaders of the “Opposition Alliance,” Nika Gvaramia, which concerns the opposition’s strategy.
As Irakli Kobakhidze believes, “protest inside the country, sanctions outside” - exactly this approach strengthens the lawsuit that the “Georgian Dream” filed against opposition parties in the Constitutional Court.
“This is the betrayal of one’s own country - ‘protest inside, sanctions outside,’ meaning inside the country you should gather 150 people in order to create a background for hostile activity outside. This is a very simple logic on which their criminal, anti-state, traitorous activity is based. Of course, an appropriate response should be given to this. The society gave an appropriate response to this in the 2024-2025 elections, but this is not enough either. We have prepared a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court. Protest inside the country, sanctions outside - exactly this approach strengthens the lawsuit that has been filed in the Constitutional Court. This is an openly hostile attitude toward one’s own people, state, and country, and this requires an appropriate response. Society, every time, responds to this approach in elections, but it also requires an appropriate legal response,” Kobakhidze states.
For information, one of the leaders of the “Opposition Alliance,” Nika Gvaramia, wrote a post on social media, which, according to his own explanation, concerns the opposition’s strategy.
“The opposition’s strategy is declared: protest inside, sanctions outside; alternative. Everyone should think about what they are doing, what they want, and what they intend. Everyone should think about what they are fighting for - for political self-assertion, for weakening opponents before the 2028 elections, to get out of prison (or not to go there), or whether they are fighting for the country and against Bidzina. Wordplay changes nothing,” Gvaramia writes.
As Gvaramia notes, unity and alternative are the main demand of society and the most important precondition for the protest, which “the May 26 rally also showed.”
