"We are used to Georgian Dream using even Strasbourg to persecute people. Through manipulation, lies, and propaganda, they are trying to conceal their violent nature," Ana Buchukuri, one of the leaders of the For Georgia party, told journalists while commenting on the European Court of Human Rights' ruling concerning a complaint filed by a Slovenian citizen.

According to Buchukuri, Georgian Dream's propaganda is using the Strasbourg court's decision in a misleading and manipulative manner.

"Georgian Dream's propaganda is once again manipulating this Strasbourg decision. The case concerns Kunstelj v. Slovenia. The individual, Kunstelj, had persistently targeted two private individuals—journalists—by continuously spreading falsehoods and defamatory statements about them. The information he systematically disseminated concerned the journalists' private lives, including their sexual conduct. Therefore, this is merely a weak attempt by Georgian Dream to justify something through lies.

We are accustomed to them using even Strasbourg to persecute people. For example, I would remind you that they also cite the Grand Chamber judgment of the Strasbourg Court against Giorgi Gakharia, even though that judgment actually states the opposite—that Gakharia did not issue the order to use rubber bullets," Buchukuri said.

For reference, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled that imposing a prison sentence for publishing insulting statements on a personal blog does not, in itself, violate the right to freedom of expression.

According to the Georgian Public Broadcaster, the case concerned a complaint filed by a Slovenian citizen with the Strasbourg Court, in which he argued that the six-month prison sentence imposed on him for statements published on his personal blog constituted a violation of his right to freedom of expression.
