Turkmenistan appreciates Georgia's constructive position at the international level and notes the significant contribution Georgia makes to its positive development, - President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated at the briefing held with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to him, Turkmenistan attaches special importance to business relations and strengthening economic relations with Georgia and wants to make these ties even more diverse.

"We had a friendly and constructive meeting. It was confirmed that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia will continue in the future, and a commitment has been made to this. We agreed to expand political relations, expand our cooperation, diplomatic efforts, so that our relations continue in a longer term perspective. Georgia is Turkmenistan's main economic partner, and the relations between our countries are important. Turkmenistan appreciates the constructive position of Georgia at the international level and notes how significant the contribution of Georgia to the positive development of the country is, and I would like to thank the Prime Minister of Georgia. We are glad that cooperation mechanisms are expanding with international organizations, especially with the UN. During the meeting, special attention was paid to raising our relations to a qualitatively new level. Within the framework of the visit, we discussed various issues, such as the exchange of manufactured products, and noted that our countries have the opportunity to increase trade volumes, and this is a new area of ​​​​our cooperation. We attach special importance to business relations, we want to strengthen economic relations and diversify our economic ties. The South Caucasus is one of the parts of the Caspian and Caucasus trade routes, and in this context, I would like to emphasize that our joint transport and logistics portfolio includes very promising projects, such as the Lapis Lazuli Corridor, which also includes Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the Caspian-Black Sea Corridor, which includes Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania. Our countries are participants in the TRACECA transport corridor, and we agreed to continue working within the framework of this project, both bilaterally and in cooperation with other participating parties. Serious negotiations are already underway, which concern the use of port infrastructure, we are talking about the Caspian and Black Sea ports, for mutual benefit, and we want to establish partnerships in the energy, telecommunications industry, manufacturing, textiles, construction and many other areas,” the Turkmen president said.

According to him, the Turkmen and Georgian peoples have been historically connected for a long time, and now these ties are entering a new context.

“We pay special attention to working on humanitarian issues and agreed that we will fully support the desire of our peoples to get to know each other’s rich culture and heritage even better, and we also want to create conditions for creative cooperation in the artistic sphere between Turkmenistan and Georgia. Expanding contacts in the scientific and educational spheres, as well as in terms of cooperation between universities, is also an important issue in this package of negotiations, which was signed within the framework of the visit. This visit coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan. Congratulations, Mr. Prime Minister, on this date. This is the 35th anniversary of these relations and we are very satisfied with the results that have been achieved as a result of the meeting with the representatives of the Georgian government and what we have achieved today and we hope that this will further strengthen cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan.
