Viola von Cramon on Vakho Sanaia’s detention: When I read the news about the Georgian government, I think things cannot get any worse, but the government proves the opposite - Georgia has become Putin’s puppet

“Georgia, which was once a leader in terms of democracy, has now become Putin’s puppet,” former MEP Viola von Cramon wrote on the social media platform X.

Viola von Cramon was responding to the sentencing of journalist Vakho Sanaia to 14 days of administrative detention.

“When I read the news about the Georgian government, I think things cannot get any worse, but the government proves the opposite. Media freedom no longer exists, activists and journalists are under constant pressure, while the political opposition is in prison,” Cramon wrote on X.

It should be recalled that the Tbilisi City Court sentenced journalist Vakho Sanaia to 14 days of administrative detention over a social media post concerning Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and MP Vladimir Bozhadze.
