This person did not even formally act as a journalist. He was acting as a political activist, a party activist, and was blatantly insulting specific people - everyone is equal before the law, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, responding to the 14-day detention of journalist Vakho Sanaia.

As Kobakhidze noted, blatant insulting of a person is not protected by the fundamental right to freedom of expression.

As for freedom of expression, you can read textbooks where it is written that the fundamental right to freedom of expression does not protect and encompass blatant insults. The fundamental right to freedom of expression does not protect blatant insults at all. Accordingly, specific people are reasoning incorrectly even formally. They have a political mandate. The political mandate is that they want to artificially incite hatred and confrontation in Georgia, they want to create an aggressive environment. Of course, we must oppose this, because this is a national task for us. Our national task is to not give anyone in Georgia the opportunity to artificially incite aggression and hatred from the outside. Formal statuses do not matter here, whether a person is formally called a journalist or something else. We must not give anyone the opportunity to provoke aggression and a means of inciting hatred. Everyone is equal before the law. In this case, the relevant agency, the relevant department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, acted in exactly the same way. The activities of this department are very important, since this is a task of national importance. We will not give anyone the opportunity to incite hatred and aggression from the outside.

As for the statements of Rasa Juknevicienė and individual European deputies on this issue, the comments of such people are not interesting at all. Let's follow the facts, there is a person who has grossly violated the law, grossly insulted specific people, such comments are completely inappropriate and have no value.

These are the people, I do not mean foreigners, who a couple of days ago justified the blatant aggression against a specific woman. Moreover, they approved of this aggression, which was expressed in very severe physical abuse. Double standards and the reason for double standards are very easily visible. The order is that in Georgia we must artificially impose hatred on ourselves from the outside and specific agents, the agency is carrying out this task. We, of course, will oppose this task and all those people who are engaged in receiving such orders in every way," Kobakhidze said.

Tbilisi City Court sentenced journalist Vakho Sanaia to 14 days of administrative detention for a post written on a social network about the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and MP Vladimer Bozhadze.

As MEP Rasa Juknevicienė noted in her assessment of this fact, the 14-day detention of journalist Vakho Sanaia for a post on Facebook shows how quickly Georgia is sliding into Kremlin-style repression.
