What is happening with Mamuka Mdinaradze is a complete farce of ignorance - as it appears, Ivanishvili’s trust in Mdinaradze has greatly diminished. I think the finale will be very harsh, said Nugzar Tsiklauri, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” on PalitraNews’ program “Day’s Newsroom,” commenting on Mamuka Mdinaradze’s change of position.

According to him, the purpose of creating the position of State Minister for Regional Policy Issues in the structure of the Georgian government is to save Mamuka Mdinaradze, and this decision is driven by the desire to prevent Mamuka Mdinaradze from completely disappearing from the political horizon.

At the same time, as Tsiklauri notes, the personnel and structural changes related to Mamuka Mdinaradze show that there is a crisis of common sense in the Georgian government.

“It is a very regrettable story in general, what we are witnessing. This is the erosion of common sense, the disappearance of seriousness in the Georgian government; the actions we are watching leave the impression of some provincial buffoonery or vaudeville. It is clear to everyone that neither the power structures needed any kind of coordination, nor is this new transfer motivated by concern for the regions. Clearly, everything is for the sake of saving General Mamuka Mdinaradze; he no longer has a place in the executive structure. As it appears, trust in him from Ivanishvili’s side has greatly decreased, and once again they are assigning him secondary functions. This is a very unfortunate story and speaks to what kind of crisis of thinking exists in the Georgian government. Ilia Chavchavadze has one letter - ‘The Farce of Ignorance.’ Exactly this farce of ignorance is what is happening in connection with Mamuka Mdinaradze.

Mamuka Mdinaradze is a member of the so-called team of the Prime Minister. As it appears, a demonstrative expulsion and complete isolation would also insult the dignity of the Prime Minister, and that is why the decision has been made to find him first one meaningless position, then another. Even now, this is not motivated by concern for the regions, but by the need for him to be somewhere, to be visible somewhere, and not to completely disappear from the political horizon. I think the finale will still be very harsh. Whether Mr. Mdinaradze will accept that finale with his head held high or slightly bowed is something none of us can control, but it is a very unfortunate story. I remember exactly in connection with this regional ministership, when the former head of the State Security Service, Liluashvili, was first appointed to this position and then later assigned to a completely different place. I truly do not wish such a fate on Mamuka Mdinaradze, although politically the events in which he is participating resemble some kind of farce,” Tsiklauri stated.

At the same time, the opposition politician notes that Irakli Kobakhidze’s authority over the ministers of the power bloc is now completely nullified.

“Of course, the ministers who actually control the power structures did not need Mamuka Mdinaradze for anything. This coordination topic is a stretched-by-the-ears theme. It was said there that this person is not needed, which is why he was removed from there and transferred elsewhere. I think Kobakhidze is simply saving face, and in reality his authority over the ministers of the power bloc, which was already very limited, is now completely nullified. It is clear to everyone that both Kobakhidze’s prime ministership and the fate of any other minister are determined precisely by Bidzina Ivanishvili. That is why there is an informal autocracy in Georgia - it has a name, it is personified, it is Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Tsiklauri stated.

As for Tinatin Rukhadze’s resignation from the position of Minister of Culture - the opposition politician notes that Rukhadze was in reality “removed,” and the reason that she left the position due to her health condition is invented.

According to Nugzar Tsiklauri, during Tinatin Rukhadze’s tenure as Minister of Culture, the prison was filled with cultural figures, which puts a very shameful stigma on her political and so-called cultural activities.

“This is truly a removal. The health condition is an invented reason. Two weeks ago I saw an interview with Ms. Rukhadze where she was talking about long-term plans, about the necessity of promoting Georgian culture abroad. She did not look like a person who would leave in two weeks and who is suffering from a serious illness. Clearly, this is a removal. This was probably known to her only a day in advance.

As for the question of why she was removed - it is entirely possible that this is related to financial problems, or it is possible that Ivanishvili did not like her activities. It is said that ‘there is no smoke without fire.’ When this news spread, even the commentators of ‘Georgian Dream’ themselves said: we do not mean Ms. Rukhadze, but whoever steals something will be held accountable. It is entirely possible that this is the case, and this will not be hidden in the end. There was a certain ultimatum, and the Minister of Culture obeyed that ultimatum.

She was the Minister of Culture, and during her tenure as Minister of Culture, one of the best poets - Zviad Ratiani - was imprisoned, as well as the undoubtedly greatest Georgian bass in the world - Paata Burchuladze. Under the conditions of her being Minister of Culture, the prison was filled with writers and cultural figures, which puts a very shameful stigma on her political and so-called cultural activities,” Tsiklauri stated.

In addition, he commented on the founding of a movement by MMA fighter Giorgi Kartvelishvili “for the purpose of protecting Georgian values, principles, and traditions,” and noted that using the street to achieve political goals is the style of “Georgian Dream.”

According to him, the more isolated the authorities become both internationally and from Georgian society, “the more pointed thoughts will come into their heads about settling scores with their own citizens by physical force.”

“I think the specific organization that Mr. Kartvelishvili leads has a very bad fate written for it from the very beginning, because completely clear opposition has appeared from Georgian society, and not only from the opposition-minded part of society. The circumstance that something should please us or not please us, and Mr. Givi Kartvelishvili will evaluate it and then also decide how harshly to deal with you - whether physical beating will be enough or breaking bones - is an unimaginable story. This is usually connected precisely with the type of state that Georgia is now becoming. We are witnessing the giving of an organized form to this, otherwise the use of ‘street thugs’ for attacks on people is not new. We remember how the state, Gharibashvili, organized it on July 5, which cost the life of a journalist. From 2012 until today, the use of the street to achieve political goals is the style of ‘Georgian Dream.’ I think these attempts will continue depending on how the authorities weaken, how they lose the ability to dialogue with Georgian society, and the more isolated they become both internationally and from Georgian society, the more pointed thoughts will come into their heads about settling scores with their own citizens by physical force. This always ends badly, and to tell you the truth, the reaction of Georgian society, including pro-government people, to this shameful fact gives me hope. Let no one compete with the Georgian people with muscles, because I do not think that is a reliable thing for achieving success in this country,” Tsiklauri noted.
