In June, we had a good indicator - economic growth was 8.6 percent. The average indicator for six months was 7.9 percent, which means that we are maintaining a high rate of economic growth and this is one of our main tasks in the future, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated at the government session.
As the head of government noted, the largest contribution to economic growth was made by sectors of the economy such as manufacturing, transport, construction, information technologies, the financial and insurance sectors.
“While maintaining a high rate of economic growth, international financial institutions have increased their initial forecasts, which is also important, and these results are, on the one hand, the result of a successful economic policy, and on the other hand, the result of the fact that we have managed to eliminate corruption at the highest levels of government. At the lower level, work must continue to combat corruption, but we have made a fundamental breakthrough in the management system. Maintaining a high rate of economic growth is also related to the elimination of corruption, in addition to a successful economic policy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Minister of Economy and his team. The successes that we have in the economic sphere are the result of their successful work,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
In addition, according to Irakli Kobakhidze, in parallel with economic growth, our foreign exchange reserves are growing, and the National Bank of Georgia is actively working in this regard.
"Last month, our foreign exchange reserves amounted to 7.1 billion dollars, which is a historical maximum. In annual terms, our foreign exchange reserves increased by 52%. This is the result of economic success and the successful activities of the National Bank. I would like to thank the National Bank and its President for their efforts and activities. Also, the result of their activities is that the lari exchange rate has strengthened in recent months, and we must do everything possible to maintain these trends in our economy and financial sector as a whole," the Prime Minister noted.
