The stopwatch of Georgia's presence-absence is turned on and, against the backdrop of the silence of people and politicians, is rapidly moving towards a fatal end. The only thing that can save us is Ukraine's victory, - said the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.
As he writes on his page on Facebook, part of the opposition has been silent, and part of it is either sold out or afraid of prison.
"The fact that we have made incredibly treacherous statements these days, which practically means surrendering en masse to the enemy, is due to the following factors: the opposition, with some exceptions, is not active because a case has been filed against them and they are afraid of going to prison, or they are sold out, or they are simply lying on the beach, or they are vacationing abroad and cannot find the time to say anything.
Some of the people really believe Russian propaganda, some are simply outright traitors, and yet, the majority has fallen into apathy and is waiting for the results of the war in Ukraine, thinking that with Ukraine's victory, victory will be handed to us and Ivanishvili will evaporate on his own. People are also watching the opposition's passivity and are therefore demotivated.
Surrendering to this enemy will have concrete results; Ivanishvili is preparing the territories of Georgia on the orders of the Russians. The official recognition of the surrender and the silence of this August convinced him that there would be no one to speak out and in order to save his own skin, he would definitely recognize Abkhazia and Tskhinvali as independent states in the near future (first by signing a non-aggression pact and then by full recognition).
The stopwatch for Georgia’s presence or absence is on and, against the backdrop of the silence of people and politicians, is rapidly moving towards its fatal end and the only thing that can save us is Ukraine's victory. Until then, we must somehow win very precious time by reviving our resistance.
Also, the good news is that, despite the almost universal surrender of Georgians, 80% of Ukrainians, according to recent polls, believe in victory and are ready to endure as much as necessary,” Saakashvili wrote.
