If fuel has entered occupied Abkhazia as an economic cargo and not as a humanitarian cargo, if it has undergone the so-called customs procedures at the so-called border, which is in reality the occupation line, this may be an alarming indicator for our country’s territorial integrity and security - a responsible government must, first of all, answer these questions! - stated one of the leaders of the party “Gakharia for Georgia,” Berdia Sichinava.

According to him, an answer must also be given to the question of whether the said cargo was used for critical infrastructure and spent for humanitarian purposes, or whether it was used for the critical infrastructure of the southern regions of the Russian Federation and for the conduct of war.

“The issue should be divided into two parts. The main thing is that the Law on the Occupied Territories is not violated. If the movement of the cargo was carried out for humanitarian purposes, there is nothing surprising in that. You know that Georgia is involved in more than one such humanitarian project; among other things, we finance the treatment of our fellow citizens - Abkhazians, we receive electricity from Enguri HPP and so does our population living in the occupied territory. Therefore there is nothing special here. The main thing here is that the process is taking place secretly. We do not know what quantity of fuel supply is being talked about, which business entities were involved and through what procedures the fuel entered the territory of occupied Abkhazia.

Therefore answers must be given to the questions: which business entities carried out the import of the cargo, whether the cargo was imported for humanitarian purposes, what quantity of cargo is being talked about, what procedure this cargo underwent and what its final destination is.

Throughout this whole time they were assuring us that the ‘deep state’ wants to involve us in the war - is Irakli Kobakhidze not by chance the Prime Minister who is involving Georgia in the war, only on the side of the Russian Federation?!” - stated Berdia Sichinava.

For information: Information was disseminated in the media that, against the background of the fuel crisis created in occupied Abkhazia, fuel entered from territory controlled by Georgia. At a briefing held in the Government Administration on 12 August, the head of government Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed the said information and stated that the fuel was brought in not by the authorities, but by business in compliance with the law.
