The company “Solidus” imported fuel into occupied Abkhazia. The company’s owner, Giorgi Arveladze, confirmed the information to “Radio Liberty.”

According to Arveladze, the talk is about approximately 300 tons of fuel (and not 3,000), which his company supplied to “Abkhaz partners” via the Enguri bridge.

“I work together with Abkhaz partners. This is a bridge between Georgian and Abkhaz business,” - states the businessman.

According to Arveladze’s information, the fuel is “mainly intended for the population of Gali, for the petrol stations there.”

“If we had not imported this, 40,000 Georgians would have started coming over to Zugdidi with 20-litre canisters. That is why it was decided that it would be better for me to import it together with my Abkhaz friends,” - Giorgi Arveladze states to “Radio Liberty.”

According to Arveladze, until now the supply of agricultural and food products had been taking place, while the supply of fuel occurred for the first time.

At a briefing held in the Government Administration on 12 August, the head of government Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed the said information and stated that the fuel was brought in not by the authorities, but by business in compliance with the law.
