A number of investigative and procedural actions have been carried out within the framework of the investigation ongoing into the suicide of Lazare Jorbenadze on April 4, 2026 - at this stage, the fact of suicide has been unequivocally confirmed, - the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia reports.

According to the agency, nevertheless, based on the statements made publicly by the convicted Irakli Gharibashvili and other persons, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office, within the framework of the ongoing investigation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nika Gvaramia; Irma Inashvili; Nanuka Zhorzholiani; Khatia Dekanoidze; Tazo Datunashvili; Gia Khukhashvili; Giorgi Liluashvili; Zaza Davitaia; Ermile Nemsadze; Giorgi Gigauri will be questioned.

According to the agency, Irakli Gharibashvili will also be questioned in the aforementioned criminal case.

“A number of investigative and procedural actions have been carried out within the framework of the investigation ongoing into the suicide of Lazare Jorbenadze on April 4, 2026 at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Persons related to the deceased have been interviewed, including the deceased’s family members and spouse, on the basis of which, at this stage, the fact of suicide has been unequivocally confirmed.

Despite the above, based on the public statements made by the convicted Irakli Gharibashvili and other persons, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office, the following persons will be interviewed within the framework of the investigation ongoing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Nika Gvaramia; Irma Inashvili; Nanuka Zhorzholiani; Khatia Dekanoidze; Tazo Datunashvili; Gia Khukhashvili; Giorgi Liluashvili; Zaza Davitaia; Ermile Nemsadze; Giorgi Gigauri.

Irakli Gharibashvili will also be questioned in the aforementioned criminal case.

Given the high public interest, we will provide the public with additional information regarding the results of the interrogation of the above-mentioned individuals, if any new circumstances become known regarding the suicide of Lazare Jorbenadze, - reads the statement.

For information, former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, published another letter from prison, in which he asks the question, "What was the real cause of the death of human rights defender Lazare Jorbenadze?" and says that in society "to this day there remain unanswered questions regarding the suicides of numerous people that took place during the Kobakhidze-Mdinaradze administration."
