According to the results of the PISA study in the field of education, Georgia has improved its indicators in all main areas – in mathematics and natural sciences the best result of the last decade has been achieved, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze stated at the government meeting.

According to the Prime Minister, in terms of improvement of achievements in natural sciences, among the 91 countries of the world participating in the study, Georgia took first place in the ranking.

“The results of the PISA study in the field of education have been published. The study once again assessed the level of assessment of school-age children and we are pleased to inform you that Georgia has improved its indicators in all main areas – in mathematics and natural sciences the best result of the last decade has been achieved. In terms of improvement of achievements in natural sciences, among the 91 countries of the world participating in the study, Georgia took first place in the ranking. In conditions of a global decline in achievements, Georgia maintains a stable tendency of improvement. The share of students with low achievements has also decreased; this is also an important achievement. In this regard, in terms of improvement, Georgia is among the top three out of 91 countries. The difference between the achievements of students of urban and rural schools has also decreased, that is, this indicator is also very important in terms of ensuring equality,” the Prime Minister stated.

According to the head of the government, according to the results of the study, in the assessments of the learning environment, sense of belonging to the school, discipline and the level of bullying, Georgia’s indicators are equal to the average or better than the average.

“The study also revealed that students positively assess the learning environment. The proper implementation of our reform plans will ensure even greater improvement of the results of our school students in the medium-term and long-term perspective,” the Prime Minister stated.
