The Directorate for Combating Hate Speech of the Human Rights Protection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarifies that civil activist Tornike Razmadze is being accused of insulting Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the agency, administrative proceedings are being conducted on the basis of Articles 166 and 173.

“Employees of the Directorate for Combating Hate Speech of the Human Rights Protection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs work on a daily basis to detect those administrative offenses that include both the insult of a specific person and cursing and swearing in public space.

Within this framework, the insulting comments of citizen Tornike Razmadze and also of Ana Bdeiani have been identified, who insulted Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on social media. Administrative proceedings against them are being conducted on the basis of Articles 166 and 173,” - they state at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

For reference, earlier civil activist Tornike Razmadze disseminated information that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is accusing him of insulting “Russian propagandists.” Specifically, according to Tornike Razmadze, the Directorate for Combating Hate Speech established within the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated administrative proceedings against him over the verbal insult of Margarita Simonyan and Vladimir Solovyov.
