According to Tina Bokuchava, the former chairperson of the National Movement, the arrest of Giorgi Baramidze on charges of treason is an act of extreme cynicism.

On social media, Tina Bokuchava shared a photo taken with Mikheil Saakashvili and Giorgi Baramidze, noting that both are currently in prison—and "both unjustly so."

"Arresting Giorgi Baramidze on charges of treason is an act of extreme cynicism by a regime that accustoms us to a daily chronicle of betrayal—be it through the Tsulukiani Commission, the Treaty of Georgievsk, blaming us for the war, the dismantling of the army, or apologizing to the enemy. Which one should we recall? My full solidarity goes to Gia, his wonderful wife, and his family," Bokuchava writes on Facebook.

For the record, according to the Prosecutor's Office, Giorgi Baramidze, a leader of the National Movement, has been arrested on charges of treason—specifically, sabotage. The case concerns a statement Baramidze made regarding the war in Abkhazia. This charge carries a penalty of up to four years in prison.
