Tamaz Borashvili: For more than 20 years I have been serving the country’s national interests; if I am elected, it will be a special honor to take this position - I will try to start protecting the country’s interests with double energy

“For more than 20 years I have been serving our country’s national interests. If I am elected, it will be a special honor to take this position,” Tamaz Borashvili, the candidate nominated by the Prime Minister for the post of head of the State Security Service (SSS), said at a briefing held in the Government Administration together with Irakli Kobakhidze.

He wished success to the former head of the SSS, Geka Geladze, in his new challenges and stated that if elected by Parliament, he would try to start protecting the country’s interests with double energy.

“I thank the Prime Minister for the trust shown and for nominating me for the position of head of the State Security Service. For more than 20 years I have been serving our country’s national interests. If I am elected, it will be a special honor to take this position. If Parliament expresses confidence in me, I will try to start protecting our country’s interests with double energy, and it will be a great honor for me to take this position. Once again, I thank Mr. Geka Geladze for his dignified leadership of the State Security Service and wish him success in his new challenges,” Tamaz Borashvili stated.

For information: The head of the State Security Service, Gela Geladze, himself wrote on social media today about leaving the position. As for Tamaz Borashvili, until now he held the position of deputy head of the same service within the SSS.
