“I do not think that frequent changes [of the head of the SSG] will be good for the system itself, but when we are dealing with someone leaving the service on the basis of a personal statement, we cannot do anything,” Chairman of the Parliamentary Defence and Security Committee Aleksandre Tabatadze stated.

According to him, the candidate for head of the SSG, Tamaz Borashvili, is a qualified cadre.

“I am very glad that Tamaz Borashvili comes from within the State Security Service. He has gone through almost every official position. He is a qualified cadre.

I do not think that frequent changes [of the head of the SSG] will be good for the system itself, but when we are dealing with someone leaving the service on the basis of a personal statement, we cannot do anything except try to ensure that the service continues to stand at the height of its calling and performs its functions,” Tabatadze stated.

For information: Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has nominated Tamaz Borashvili for the position of head of the State Security Service. Until now, Tamaz Borashvili held the position of deputy head of the SSG. Gela Geladze, who held the position of head of the SSG, announced his resignation today. He has been appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
