Gakharia’s party does not recognize the constitutional order - we are seeking to ban the party, but we are not seeking to suspend its mandates; this is being done so that society can see what the face of the “agents” looks like.
“Gakharia’s party does not recognize the constitutional order. We are seeking to ban the party, but we are not seeking to suspend its mandates. This is being done so that society can see what the face of the ‘agents’ looks like,” Irakli Kirtskhalia, leader of the parliamentary majority, said while discussing the inclusion of “For Georgia” on the list of parties subject to a ban.
According to him, representatives of Gakharia’s party in Parliament are following the agenda that he describes as “the policy of non-recognition of the constitutional order.”
“Gakharia’s party does not recognize the constitutional order. They had their chance. Once again, we showed society that a part of the public was misled in 2024 and they secured parliamentary mandates. Then we saw how the collective ‘United National Movement’ responded to the will of the people, and since these people had decided to enter Parliament and did so, we recognized their mandates. In this way, we once again showed respect for those voters who had supported them.
This was a process of revealing what they would do in Parliament. We see what they are doing in Parliament, how they behave, and what agenda they are following. They are following what is called the policy of non-recognition of the constitutional order. Every agent follows this agenda, and these people are doing so from this very building. We are seeking to ban the party, but we are not seeking to suspend its mandates. This is being done so that society can see what the face of the ‘agents’ looks like,” Kirtskhalia said.
For the record, Georgian Dream is also appealing to the Constitutional Court seeking the ban of the “For Georgia” party.
This week, a constitutional claim will be submitted to the Constitutional Court, to which the party of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia will be added.
