Today, 1,600 displaced families will receive new, fully renovated apartments. This is the largest-scale project implemented to date, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated while addressing the event dedicated to handing over apartments to displaced persons.

According to the Head of Government, an investment of 280 million GEL was made in the project, creating a residential district in Tbilisi that meets modern standards.

“Today is a very emotional day for each of us; 1,600 displaced families will receive new, fully renovated apartments. This is the largest-scale project implemented to date. In total, an investment of 280 million GEL has been made in this project. A modern residential district has been created in Tbilisi. The project comprises a total of 11 buildings and over 2,400 apartments. Residents moved into four of the buildings last year, and today, 1,600 families are beginning their lives in the complex's seven new blocks. A comprehensive, comfortable environment has been created here, featuring green spaces, sports grounds, and children's play areas. Our citizens will live in a secure and safe environment," the Prime Minister stated.

He added that providing displaced persons with dignified housing remains an unwavering priority for the government. "Providing dignified housing for displaced persons is an unwavering priority for our government. Our efforts are not limited to Tbilisi alone; significant projects are also being implemented in the regions. In Rustavi, four apartment buildings are being constructed for 800 families; in Zugdidi, over 1,700 apartments are being built across seven new blocks; and in Borjomi, another 150 families will receive new housing. Last year, we completed the construction of a 720-apartment complex in Kutaisi. These are large-scale projects aimed at ensuring that every displaced family has dignified housing. Furthermore, the 'House in the Village' program is successfully continuing nationwide; under this initiative, the state has already purchased homes for nearly 16,000 beneficiaries, including 2,000 this year alone," the Prime Minister stated.

He added that since 2012, more than 45,000 families have received new, well-appointed apartments into their ownership through various government programs.

He also noted that 240 million GEL will be spent in this area this year, and funding will increase even further next year.

"If in 2012, the entire ministry budget was 25 million GEL—a figure that naturally had a negative impact on the scope of programs; this year, we are spending 240 million GEL in this area alone, and next year that funding will increase further. This demonstrates that the resettlement of and care for displaced persons is—and will certainly remain—one of our top priorities. We know that you have endured a very difficult journey and have waited many years for dignified housing. I would like to congratulate you on this momentous day and wish you peace and prosperity," stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
