Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated that the updated constitutional lawsuit, which now includes the Gakharia for Georgia party as well, has been signed and will be submitted to the Constitutional Court today.

"The lawsuit has been prepared and signed, and I believe it will be physically submitted today. Since it was the weekend, the filing with the Constitutional Court is taking place today. The lawsuit will be public, and everyone will be able to view it. I hope and am confident that the Constitutional Court and the judges have already been working on the case. While nine months is the maximum timeframe, nothing prevents the Constitutional Court from reviewing it sooner," Papuashvili said.

He added that, in Georgian Dream's view, the Gakharia for Georgia party is unconstitutional, and the relevant arguments have been presented in the updated lawsuit.

"It was evident from the start that Gakharia was part of the National Movement's united front; we had always spoken about this. Right before the 2024 elections, there was even a campaign—"4-5-9-25"—implying that voting for any of them meant voting for a single shared goal. At the time, incumbent President Salome Zourabichvili—like others—openly urged citizens to vote for any of these four parties, reasoning that, ultimately, a vote for any of them was a vote for that same common objective.

This was clear from the very beginning—evident, for instance, in their decision to boycott Parliament. They stayed out of Parliament for a year; in fact, the first group of MPs even had their mandates revoked because they failed to attend parliamentary sessions. It was only after the "October 4th coup" failed—as one of their own leaders admitted—that they decided to enter Parliament. Despite this, we gave them the opportunity to return to the constitutional order and acknowledge it. Yet, as we can see, nothing has changed. They do not recognize the constitutional order; consequently, in our view, this party is unconstitutional, and the relevant arguments have been presented in the updated lawsuit," Papuashvili stated.

Notably, Georgian Dream is petitioning the Constitutional Court to ban the Gakharia for Georgia party. Georgian Dream has already filed a constitutional lawsuit seeking to have the activities of the National Movement, Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia – Lelo, and the Federalists declared unconstitutional and banned.
