Nothing captures the desperation born of delegitimization quite like the propagandistic attempt to spin every single protocol meeting—every routine, ordinary visit—as a major political event. This statement was made by Tazo Datunashvili, a leader of Lelo – Strong Georgia, regarding Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, scheduled for September 24.

According to Datunashvili, the UN is an organization where anyone can take the floor, yet the government has mobilized a "massive propaganda machine" around this fact.

He further assessed that this attitude reveals that Bidzina Ivanishvili—the founder and honorary chairman of Georgian Dream—is specifically seeking international recognition from the West.

"Muammar Gaddafi and Bashar al-Assad were also heard at the UN; the UN is an organization where everyone gets a chance to speak when they visit. This changes nothing regarding Georgian Dream's political isolation. The government looks truly pathetic when it mobilizes its entire apparatus every time it goes to speak about space and aliens, attends a UN Assembly session, or participates in similar events.

Georgia is isolated from the civilized world because it is ruled by a Russian oligarch—a holdover from the 90s—who governs using gangster-like methods. Georgia has become a gangster state. It will remain isolated from our partners as long as this situation persists. Yet, the government claims that those who do not care about Georgia's fate—such as those who fail to condemn the so-called elections in so-called South Ossetia—are our friends.

In reality, the UN thing clearly demonstrates that Ivanishvili craves international recognition from the West, not from Tehran or Beijing," stated Tazo Datunashvili.
