Diplomatic relations have been established between Georgia and the Republic of Nauru. The relevant document was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Nauru’s President David Adeang.

­The information was released by the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

According to the press service, during a meeting in New York, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze once again thanked the President of Nauru for revoking diplomatic recognition of Georgia’s occupied territories and noted that this decision once again underscored that upholding the principles of international law is the foundation of stable and responsible international relations.

“The discussion focused on cooperation in multilateral formats, including within international organizations. The meeting also addressed prospects for deepening partnership and people-to-people ties in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Davit Bakradze,” the statement said.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Kobakhidze wrote on X that the signing of the protocol establishing diplomatic relations marks the beginning of a new stage in relations between Georgia and Nauru.

“I am pleased to have met with President of the Republic of Nauru David Adeang on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. With the signing of the protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations, a new stage in relations between our countries begins. We hope that our partnership will deepen in the coming years,” the Prime Minister said.
