Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in New York.

The information was released by the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

According to the administration, the meeting highlighted the high level of strategic partnership between Georgia and Türkiye and successful cooperation in various fields.

“Particular attention was paid to the positive dynamics in the development of political and economic relations. It was noted that Türkiye remains Georgia’s largest trading partner.

The sides discussed joint strategic projects of regional importance that make a significant contribution to the development of the region and strengthening connectivity. In this context, the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which has now become fully operational, was highlighted.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in the transport and energy sectors.

The particular importance of peace for the sustainable and stable development of the region was emphasized,” the statement said.

The Georgian Prime Minister also commented on the meeting on X.

According to him, the sides once again reaffirmed their commitment to bilateral cooperation.

“I met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. We discussed the longstanding strategic partnership between Georgia and Türkiye and once again reaffirmed our readiness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest,” the Prime Minister said.
