“The only interesting passage in Paata Burchuladze’s statement is precisely this one - the opposition truly resembles dead fish in its entirety, in its current form,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, commenting on a letter sent by Paata Burchuladze, who was convicted in the October 4 case.

According to him, the opposition has neither the resources for street protests nor the resources to compete in elections.

“The only interesting passage in Paata Burchuladze’s statement is precisely this one - the opposition truly resembles dead fish in its entirety, in its current form. They have no resources whatsoever, neither on the streets nor in elections. Sometimes they talk about elections, sometimes about the streets, but in reality, they are unsuccessful in both. Of course, this will continue for one simple reason: they have no principles, they do not love the country, and that is precisely why they have failed and will continue to fail to achieve any success,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.

For reference, singer Paata Burchuladze, who was convicted in the October 4 case, sent a letter from prison stating that on October 4, they held the “re-election” of Georgian Dream, while elections should be ensured by politicians.

In his letter, Burchuladze referred to several opposition politicians, saying that “only dead fish follow the current.”

“I receive letters, and I am grateful to those politicians who write to me saying that they have changed their minds and now see and positively assess the decision of the assembly, and are convinced that as time passes, it will be valued even more and will have already entered Georgia’s history. As for those opposition politicians who still criticize October 4, I wish that, instead of endless talk and expressing opinions, they would offer us a better plan of action, and we, the citizens of Georgia, will follow them. But let them not forget one thing: only dead fish follow the current,” Burchuladze wrote.
