“It is our constitutional right to gather wherever and however we want. Tomorrow, we will be at the rally, and Georgian citizens will be there regardless of their differing political views. No matter what Ivanishvili’s attempts may be, the rally in support of Mikheil Saakashvili will take place tomorrow anyway,” Ana Tsitlidze, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, said.
According to her, Georgian citizens with different political views will attend the rally scheduled for tomorrow in Rike Park.
“October 1 will mark five years since Mikheil Saakashvili has been in Russian captivity. It will also mark 14 years since Russian rule was established in the country. Fourteen years of destruction that Ivanishvili has brought to the Georgian state. It is our constitutional right to gather wherever and however we want. Tomorrow, we will be at the rally, and Georgian citizens will be there regardless of their differing political views. Everyone must understand: when you accept Saakashvili’s imprisonment, the person who was the first to raise the EU flag in this country and did the most in the history of modern Georgia, it means that you accept Russian occupation and reject the idea of a united and strong Georgia. No matter what attempts Ivanishvili makes to obstruct the rally - because the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not exist separately from him - this rally will take place anyway,” Tsitlidze said.
For reference, the United National Movement will hold a rally tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. in support of Mikheil Saakashvili, the imprisoned third president of Georgia.
