The Ministry of Finance's Investigation Service has entered Georgian Post. The Investigation Service's press office told InterPressNews that an investigation is underway, though they could not provide further details regarding the specific legal grounds for the probe.
Notably, during yesterday's government meeting, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that Georgian Post had operated at a loss in previous years. He noted that this year would mark the first time the company turns a profit, attributing this outcome to specific changes that have been implemented.
"2.5 million GEL was saved solely through staff optimization. 1.1 million GEL was saved by optimizing unprofitable service centers. Furthermore, a number of services had been outsourced to intermediary companies—companies that served as a convenient vehicle for corruption. The relevant authorities will likely establish the details of this. These services have now been brought back in-house to Georgian Post, and as a result, the company will generate an additional 14.2 million GEL in annual revenue," stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
