Shalva Papuashvili on Paweł Herczyński: My recommendation is to lower his tone — leave the condescending tone at the embassy and speak to the Georgian people and their government as befits a diplomat

"Yesterday, we saw Mr. Herczyński's briefing, where he spoke about recommendations. The first recommendation I want to give him is to lower his tone—an accredited diplomat here should not be speaking to the Georgian government in an aggressive, pretentious, and patronizing tone, and that will be my recommendation: lower the tone," stated Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili while speaking with journalists.
According to Papuashvili's assessment, Herczyński spoke with anger and grievances at yesterday's briefing; according to him, a guest does not speak to a host in this tone.
"Part of this tone was also what he said yesterday about what we should be having a conversation on—whether it's the 'Deep State' or the 'Global War Party.'
Well, what should we have a dialogue on? When his superior, Marta Kos, said that Russia won in Georgia—should we have a dialogue on that?
When Herczyński stated that Georgia is returning to its past—should we have a conversation on that?
When he went to the Minister of Justice in 2022 or 2023 with a fake demarche telling him Saakashvili is dying—should we have a dialogue on that? Was he dying or not? 4 years have passed, the man had a child and is practically running political processes from prison. So, I would advise the Ambassador to leave this condescending tone at the embassy and speak to the Georgian people and their government as befits a diplomat," Shalva Papuashvili noted.
According to Papuashvili, prior to Herczyński's briefing, he called on him to "condemn the storming of the President's Palace on October 4, 2025," adding that Herczyński spoke in general phrases.
"We are interested in a specific answer: why doesn't Mr. Herczyński specifically say that he condemns the attack on the President's Palace on October 4, 2025? He has not said this sentence even once, and he has not once specifically condemned this crime.
Do you know why he hasn't condemned it? The moment he condemns this violence, he will no longer be able to say that the people involved in this violence are arbitrarily detained.
Mr. Herczyński represents Brussels to this day; he and Brussels to this day are patrons of violence in Georgia, patrons and appologists of the October 4 attack on the President's Palace.
As for the arbitrarily detained, we heard his statement, but he does not intend to tell us who is arbitrarily detained. On one hand, he calls on us to release those unlawfully detained, but when we ask him who, he does not answer.
Today, three people are serving sentences who threw Molotov cocktails at the police and intended to burn police officers alive. Now, if we read out even one surname from these three people, it will be over and everyone will understand that Brussels is a patron of violence in Georgia; that is why he does not say it.
Here we must put a stop: either Mr. Herczyński presents a list of whom he considers arbitrarily detained, or we will consider that they are once again patrons of perpetrators of violence, and Mr. Herczyński himself is a patron of perpetrators of violence.
He has repeatedly confirmed that he meets with violent actors, finances violent actors, finances those who spread hate speech, and dances to their tune and pays money. He hires people who verbally abuse the population of Georgia. So if there is no list, Herczyński will not be considered a non-supporter of violent actors. On the contrary, he will be viewed as a supporter of violent actors.
If anyone needs to explain what Europe is, let him explain it to the people around him. We are Europe and we pass European laws, and if this does not fit into Brussels' taste, that is another matter. They don't like it? We understood—they suspended it, right? We understood, and why they are angry is what I cannot understand," Shalva Papuashvili noted.
