Finance Minister slams Saakashvili’s remarks about “botched tourists”

In recent period it was unfairly and irresponsibly said that we need the tourist of good quality, they used the words like “botched tourists”, - Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani said at the plenary sitting of parliament while commenting on ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s remarks who said that “Georgia needs rich tourists and not “botched ones” traveling here.

“This is incorrect. The quality of our tourism has been improved and we have not only increased number of tourists, but the income from each tourist. The number of the tourists from non-neighboring states is also increasing. It means that we are gaining a very important place. We do not have the possibility to sit down and select : who is good or bad tourist. Each tourist is important for us at this stage”, the Finance Minister said.
