Power is in Unity to sue Central Election Commission regarding appointment of election day on a working day

The Power is in Unity movement will sue the Central Election Commission regarding the appointment of the election day on a working day.

Levan Bezhashvili, member of the National Movement, told InterPressNews that the opposition will file a lawsuit today. According to him, the Central Election Commission violated several articles of the Election Code and the opposition arguments will likely be interesting for the court.

"The Central Election Commission appointed elections on November 28, which is a working day. We will appeal against this decision in the Tbilisi City Court. We appeal against the violations in relation to the Election Code. The Commission had no right to appoint elections on the working day. Under existing legislation, it was possible to summarize the results of the first round on weekends and appoint the second round on a non-working day. Consequently, every citizen, inside or outside the country, would be able to express his/her choice, "Bezhashvili said.
