Extradition process ongoing for British citizen detained in Tbilisi

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained a British citizen wanted by the UK in Tbilisi. UK citizen J.S.S., born in 1987, arrived at the Vake-Saburtalo Police Division accompanied by his lawyer on January 23, 2019 and handed himself in to police.

Within the framework of cooperation between the British and Georgian law enforcement agencies, the search for J.S.S. was declared through international channels on January 12, 2019.

J.S.S. was found guilty of negligence manslaughter by the Central Criminal Court of London and was sentenced to 6 years in prison. The incident took place on December 8, 2015.

At this stage, pre-extradition procedures are ongoing.
