Locals of Pankisi Gorge threaten “worse will happen” if  anybody is arrested

If anybody is arrested due to yesterday’s developments in Pankisi, the same or even worse will happen, - the locals of the Pankisi Gorge said in response to the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The locals are gathering in the village of Birkani to discuss the yesterday’s incident. They say that the number of law enforcers provoked them and that the members of government lied when they said that the population had agreed to the construction of the power plant.

"Why did they brought in so many policemen and riot police, if we were agree? What happened yesterday was not good, but if they start to arrest people, we will not stop. Do not dare arrest anyone," the locals said.
