Irakli Okruashvili: The Rose Revolution and campaign round it was financed by me

I paid pay 1 200 000 USD to Dvali and Akimidze by the help of Jemal Inaishvili, - Irakli Okruashvili, leader of the Victorious Georgia party, told journalists.

According to him, the Rose Revolution and the campaign conducted around it in 2003 was funded by him.

"I have repeatedly said that I paid 1 200 000 USD to Dvali and Akimidze through Jemal Inaishvili. In addition, I gave them 10% shares of Georgia Online.

I may not tell you how much money I paid for Rustavi 2, I may not answer your question for one simple reason – the limitation period is over – but this money was attracted by me from people who I am not allowed to name today”, he said.

According to Okruashvili, the people who gave him money were not public servants.

When asked if Okruashvili used his power for attracting the money, he replied: "No, I had certain connections. In 2003, when you were saying that Soros or Bidzina Ivanishvili financed the Rose Revolution, actually the entire campaign was financed by me. I had a leverage for that and I still have it," Okruashvili said.
