PM Giorgi Gakharia meets with Special Representative of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office

Recent developments on the occupied territories deteriorates the security environment in the region and it is important the international community to raise this issue at a high level within international as well as the bilateral format with Russia, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at the meeting with Rudolf Michalka, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus and the co-chair of Geneva International Discussions.

As the PM’s press service informs, the discussions focused on the facts of gross human rights violations in the occupied regions of Georgia and discrimination of ethnic Georgians, illegal “borderization” and the destructive steps taken by the occupation forces in the village of Chorchana, Khashuri municipality.

At the meeting the sides emphasized the need to strengthen the format of the Geneva International Discussions and to address issues raised during the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meetings.

The OSCE Special Representative pointed out that, along with other co-chairing organizations, he will continue to work actively for a constructive and result-oriented negotiation within the Geneva format.

The head of government emphasized the importance of the OSCE's support for the peaceful resolution of the conflict and expressed readiness to continue working closely with the organization.
