Amiran Gamkrelidze: April and the beginning of May will be quite difficult

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director of the National Center for Disease Control, there are fewer cases of coronavirus infection in Georgia than it was predicted.

As Amiran Gamkrelidze explained, April and the beginning of May will be quite difficult. He once again called on the public to observe social distancing.

"We have always said that we will have an increase in the number of cases in the country. I said about 10 days ago that April would be quite difficult for us and maybe the first half of May. We could prevent the large-scale spread of the infection as much as possible, thus we gained time and prepared the healthcare sector more seriously.

As for our predictions, we expected even a bit more patients this week and we have predictions for the next week as well. That is why it is necessary for all of us to follow the restrictions of the state of emergency, quarantine and self-isolation. Personal hygiene and fewer large gatherings are essential. Social distancing is the most important weapon in this fight”, Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
