CoE chairmanship to be handed to Greece from Georgia on May 15 in remote mode

The Council of Europe Ministerial, scheduled for May, will be held in November, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Davit Zalkaliani said on Friday.

According to him, Georgia will hand over the chairmanship to Greece on May 15 at a remote meeting.

“You know that Georgia will chair Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers until May 15. The pandemic has had a serious impact on our chairmanship. Although the regular meeting process was suspended, we resumed our activities as a chair country. A joint statement was issued on behalf of the Council of Europe regarding the pandemic, and the meetings of the Deputy Ministers' Committee chaired by Georgia were resumed. Our ambassador from the ground and I from Tbilisi constantly held permanent conferences in a remote regime. Unfortunately, it is not possible to hold a ministerial meeting as it was planned. But it will definitely be held on May 15 in remote mode. I will be involved from Tbilisi, I will summarize the period of chairmanship and naturally, the chairmanship will be handed over to Greece. The ministerial will be held not in May, but in November, under the chairmanship of Greece, "Zalkaliani said.
