Georgian Dream: It is our to apologize to German Ambassador for the irresponsible and unethical statements of our citizen

"It is our duty, on behalf of our country, to apologize to the German Ambassador, Hubert Knirsch, for the irresponsible and unethical statements of our citizen," reads the statement of the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party.

The party believes that the attack of radical opposition leaders against Western partners and their anti-Western campaign is becoming increasingly alarming.

“We think that the deeper the radical opposition gets into a serious political crisis, the more irresponsible they will get, which will harm not only them but our country as well. Thus, we consider it necessary to respond immediately to such irresponsibility.

We remind you that the leaders of the radical opposition openly and brazenly refuse to comply with the agreement signed by the political parties with the support and facilitation of our ambassadors. Moreover, a number of representatives of the radical opposition have already openly stated that they want the constitutional amendments to fail.

A kind of culmination of the radical opposition's anti-Western campaign was the insulting statements made by their leaders, Shalva Natelashvili and Giga Bokeria, in response to the German ambassador's comment, which grossly violated the basic elements of morality and ethics. The insulting statements of Bokeria and his wife were later exacerbated by Natelashvili, who insulted not only the German ambassador, but also the German people and the German state, a country that has supported Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity since the 90s and has greatly contributed to the realization of Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

We would also like to note that Natelashvili's statement is an insult not only to the German people and the German state, but to the Georgian society in the first place. It is our duty, on behalf of our country, to apologize to the German Ambassador for the irresponsible and unethical statements of our citizen. It should be noted that the insulting statements were a response to the truth voiced by our ambassadors relating to the March 8 agreement. The truth was first voiced as diplomatically as possible by EU Ambassador Carl Hartzell on June 23 and later by US Ambassador Kelly Degnan on June 25. And as the radical opposition could not properly understand the content of the ambassadors' statements, the same content was then more clearly expressed by the German ambassador. However, instead of properly understanding the content of the ambassadors' statements and their calls, the radical opposition and its leaders responded to these statements by insulting comments and extremely unethical behavior”, reads the statement.
