Amiran Gamkrelidze: AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to arrive in Georgia before Pfizer

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director of the National Center for Disease Control, the AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to arrive in Georgia before the Pfizer vaccine. As Gamkrelidze told InterpressNews, the vaccination process in Georgia "will definitely start" in March.

"There will be relevant doses in March. Most likely, AstraZeneca will arrive sooner than Pfizer. Next week we have a teleconference with Pfizer, where we will know the latest decision of Pfizer. Certain doses of AstraZeneca will most likely be present and vaccination will start in the country in March, according to the scheme provided for in the National Vaccination Plan. Negotiations are underway with many companies, and we are also observing the World Health Organization's special list, which confirms that various vaccines have been recognized. At the same time, active work is underway with Covax, as well as with 4-5 manufacturers regarding additional doses,” Gamkrelidze said.
