Service resumed in the temples of occupied Abkhazia

Service has been resumed in the temples of occupied Abkhazia, reports agency "Sputnik" based on the statement of the so-called head of the Abkhazian church Besarion Aplia.

Aplia is convinced that the Moscow Patriarchate will solve the problem of the Abkhazian church and determine its status outside the borders of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

"The Moscow Patriarchate will help us in our independent position. The Russian Orthodox Church will support the establishment of an autonomous church in Abkhazia. It is too early to talk about autocephaly - autonomy must be restored first. We are restoring the Catholicosate of Abkhazia, which is a very long process. Except for Russia, no one in the Caucasus has restored Orthodoxy", - Aplia said.

According to him, the most important thing is not to connect Abkhazia with the Georgian Orthodox Church.

"We will attain this. Of course, Georgians will not agree, but we must be united inside Abkhazia and that is the most important thing. In this case our issue will be easily resolved, because Moscow can not understand whether we want Constantinople or we want to restore Orthodoxy with them", - said Aplia.

He also noted that in order to restore the "autonomous orthodox church of Abkhazia", the Moscow Patriarchate will organize services in the Abkhazian language, for which special literature will be published in Russia.

"The work of the translation commission will be sorted out, Abkhazia will receive church equipment and many others things", - Aplia said.
