Novel Coronavirus pandemic has not only affected people’s health and lives but put specific societal groups even under the existential threat - social isolation, exacerbated health risks and limited access to essential resources has negatively impacted socially vulnerable, especially sole elderly people.
In cooperation with the Red Cross Georgia Society, APM Terminals Poti has donated food and hygienic product packages to the vulnerable citizens of Poti with the logistical support of Red Cross volunteers. 50 families and elderly households identified through the help of Poti City Municipality have benefited from this donation.
Within the Corporate Social Responsibility framework, APM Terminals Poti has carried out several charity activities in response to COVID-19 crisis (Contribution in STOP-COV Fund, cooperation with NGO “CHARTE” – donating laptops for the high-school students in remote rural locations, Day Care Center for Children with Special Needs) including collaboration with Georgia Red Cross Society already for the second time after spring 2020 initiative which covered 60 beneficiaries.
Hereby, we would like to express our gratitude towards Red Cross Organization and the volunteers for their important social endeavor and Poti City Municipality for their support in the process. Such inter-sector cooperation further encourages the companies and corporations to easily engage into charitable activities and contribute to the needs of local communities they operate in, especially during turbulent times.
