Gitana Nausėda: April 19 agreement should be implemented and all parties should take part - this will create an opportunity to end the political crisis and move on to issues that are important for Georgia

The agreement reached on April 19 should be implemented and all political parties should take part. It will create an opportunity to end the political crisis and move on to issues that are very important for Georgia, - Lithuanian President Gitana Nausėda said at a joint press conference after meeting with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

"I am really happy to be visiting your country as a President for the first time. I have heard a lot about how beautiful and friendly the country is, now I can confirm that it really is. Thanks to the President for the friendly and warm reception. I remember our first warm meeting in Lithuania. Lithuania and Georgia are geographically distant, although they have strong ties. We are very close in values. In addition, we face common external threats. I would like to express my joy that Salome Zurabishvili has made a great effort to unite the country and to move towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

I look at Georgia and I remember Lithuania, which at the time was vigorously striving for EU and NATO membership. Our path was not easy, it lasted relatively little longer, but we always knew what our strategic goal was and there was no doubt about it in our society. We see such diligence in the Georgian people as well. That is why we signed a declaration with the President, which not only supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, but also its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

At the meeting, we discussed the fight against the pandemic. I support the European Commission's efforts to establish a common EU system for the sharing of vaccines with the EU's Eastern Partners. Our government was actively looking for ways to help Georgia fight the pandemic and recently decided to donate 15 thousand doses of vaccine to Georgia.

Lithuania is also ready to share its experience on the path to EU and NATO integration", - the Lithuanian president said.
