In the last decade, we have successfully continued the diplomatic mission launched by Sulkhan-Saba, which should ensure our return to the European family, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said in his speech at the event dedicated to the Day of Diplomats.

As the Prime Minister noted, Georgian diplomats are at the forefront of achieving this goal.

"I want to start my speech with thanks. Thank you for the invaluable work you do to protect and strengthen our country. We are all glad that today is the Day of Diplomats. It is symbolic that today we celebrate the birthday of the great Georgian public figure, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani.

As you know, diplomacy has always been an integral part of political life, but the name of Sulkhan-Saba is associated with the development of modern diplomacy in Georgia, as well as the establishment of values, orientations and goals in our foreign policy that guide our efforts in the international diplomatic arena. You are well aware that Sulkhan-Saba's trip to Europe served the historical destiny and civilized choice of our country, integration into the family of European nations. Due to historical processes, the full progress towards this goal was resumed only after the restoration of independence, and in the last decade we have continued with particular success the diplomatic mission launched by Sulkhan-Saba, which should ensure our return to the European family. Georgian diplomats are at the forefront of achieving this goal," Gharibashvili said.
